When does waste become business or trade waste?
Waste generated by businesses needs to be treated differently to waste generated by the public. Businesses can still be responsible for fly tipping and littering.
You might be surprised to learn that waste generated by holiday lets, builders and clubs and societies counts as business waste and must not be put in regular kerbside bins or at Gloucestershire County Council Household Recycling Centres.

This applies even if the business is run from your own home.
What is business waste?
Any waste from:
- Construction
- Demolition
- Industry
- Agriculture
- Any commercial activity - (including home based businesses)
What should businesses do?
Business waste must be:
- Taken to a suitably licensed disposal site, or
- Collected by a registered waste carrier.
